Urgent Update—Workers Beaten at Western Factory

Forced to work 16 to 17 hours a day without wages;
On Sunday, July 16, police allegedly beat men and women workers;
Owner has hired gang members to threaten the workers;
Workers asking for their wages or speaking with outsiders will be beaten and forcibly deported;
Food and water have been cut off;
Workers are terrified and begging for help.

——————————————————————————–

Western is currently producing jackets for the Reebok label. There are about 90 Bangladeshi workers in the factory along with some Indian and Jordanian workers.

The Ministry of Labor should immediately intervene to end the threats and secure the safety of the workers. Western should be shut down and the workers relocated to a better factory. Western’s owner should be prosecuted.

Following the release of the NLC report in May, Western management reduced its daily shifts, closing the factory at 9:30 p.m., and workers started to receive one day off a week. But this was short-lived.

Factory management has not returned the workers’ passports, nor have the workers received their residency permits.

Beginning in June, the workers are back to working seven days a week, 16 to 17 hours a day, from 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 midnight or 1:00 a.m. There are also mandatory all-night shifts three to four times a month. The only “break” the workers receive is that they are let out “early” on Fridays at 6:00 p.m.

The workers are routinely at the factory 109 hours a week. The workers have not been paid in the last two months—not their regular wages, nor overtime.

On Sunday, July 16—after the workers asked for payment of the back wages owed them and for shorter hours—management called in the police (no doubt under false pretext), who allegedly beat several men and women workers severely—Ms. Aleya, Ms. Beena, Mr. Noor Alam, Mr. Sumon and Mr. Alimudding.

The Indian owner of Western told the workers that he has hired gang members to threaten the workers.

Any worker asking for his or her wages or daring to speak with outsiders regarding factory conditions will be beaten and immediately forcibly deported.

The workers are frightened and did not go to work today. In response, management has cut off food and water to the workers’ dorm. The workers are terrified and begging for help.

I have had ALOT of problems with my 360. I wrote this letter to microsoft about 2 months ago. I beilive it covered most of my problems.

As a longtime Microsoft customer, historically I have been satisfied with the products and services purchased from your company. Unfortunately, since my purchase of the Xbox 360, I have had nothing but difficulty and problems with your product and customer service. I hope after you review the difficulties that I have had, you will agree, that the appropriate result is for you to furnish me a brand new Xbox 360 covered by the original manufactures warranty.
My difficulties began with the malfunction of my Xbox in approximately December 2007. I contacted customer service and advised them that my Xbox was showing the malfunction error message, also known as the “Ring of Death”. Customer service advised me that I had two options to address the problem. One was to wait several more weeks to receive a box to send back my Xbox, and the other was to get a paid-for shipping label by email and immediately send it back in my own box. I chose the latter.
I was lead to believe I was to send the entire Xbox, which included the hard drive. I was not given any specific instructions to remove the Hard Drive prior to shipping to the service center. I expected to have my same Xbox returned with the hard drive intact. However, what was sent to me was a refurbished Xbox with a blank hard drive.
I started to use this refurbished Xbox, and twenty minutes later it broke in the same way my original Xbox broke. I immediately called customer service to address the defective product. I also advised them that they did not return my hard drive as anticipated. They informed me they would search for my original hard drive, and told me they would send me a box to return this defective, refurbished, Xbox. Because of the continued difficulty, and due to my historic customer loyalty, they offer me a free game for my troubles.
I received this new shipping box and instructions a week later and sent out my Xbox. I received my third Xbox within three weeks from sending out my second one. This one worked for a short time, but then broke in a manner different to my other two. I was told that because this malfunction happened in the replaced hard drive that Microsoft used to replace my original hard drive, and not the actual Xbox, it was not covered.
If your organization had confidence in its product, it would not have refused to correct the difficulty with a hard drive that was used for no longer than three months. As a loyal Microsoft customer, it troubles me that I have been provided continued defective products and poor customer service. If I cannot receive proper satisfaction, I have no choice but to purchase my future game systems from your competitors, Sony and Nintendo, and my operating systems from Apple. I look forward to your prompt response with a resolution to my continued and existing problem.

Sincerely,

I haven’t gotten a response back, and I was told that I don’t have any realistic legal ramifications. What should I do? i really feel like ive been screwed over, and microsoft couldn’t care less.

I placed an order online for two items. I recieved an email the next day saying that one of them was out of stock, did I want the other sent to me. I replied saying no, please cancel the order. TThey then replied saying they’d give me free delivery if I took the other item, should they send it. I wasn’t able to reply to their email before 5:30pm so I then recieved another email saying they had sent the goods to me.

I emailed them the next day saying I requested it was cancelled but I’d jut recieved it, could they arrange a return. They emailed me a label and said I should post it back, which I did from my work address which is a Royal Mail collection point.

This was two weeks ago and I still haven’t recieved a refund, they are saying they have not recieved it back yet. They said I should have got a reciept number from the Post Office but I told them I sent it from work so didn’t have one. They didn’t tell me that I needed to go to a post office so that I could get this ‘tracking number’. They said without this ‘tracking number’ they couldn’t do anything so I went to the Post Office to ask, they said that with the label they sent me I would have been given proof of postage but no proof of receipt, it’s not a tracking number, just a barcode which shows an item was sent to them.

My argument is that I should never have received the item in the 1st place, I posted it back and now I want my money back but they wont refund me. Do I have any rights here?
P.S. – I paid on my debit card.

Dear Hydrolyze Victims:

FILE MAIL FRAUD COMPLAINTS HERE:

https://postalinspectors.uspis.gov/forms/MailFraudComplaint.aspx

POWER TO THE CONSUMERS

Yes, I got suckered, too. In this case, I ordered the free trial — and ONLY the free trial, then sent an e-mail canceling the order (on Friday, message most likely received Monday). But gosh, Monday is exactly day the little time bomb was delivered.

So I called Hydrolyze to ask how to return it. What bothered me most was the bill for 139.90 for the free trial. When I called the company about returning it, I talked with "Mark" who told me to send the product back marked "RETURN TO SENDER" along with a "Return Materials Authorization" from Hydrolyze which he gave me and which I later received by e-mail AND a delivery confirmation number from the post office. Most importantly, I was told to get a delivery confirmation from the post office. Turns out, you can’t get a delivery confirmation number or insurance if the vendor provides a return mail label (they do).

In addition to the RMA and the delivery confirmation, I noticed on the Hydrolyze FAQ page that we are all supposed: “To ensure prompt processing, returns must be sent to the address provided with your The number. The warehouse cannot accept packages without an RMA number.” So, I thought, great, I’ll just check the RMA authorization Hydrolyze sent me, and guess what? There is NO ADDRESS on the RMA they sent me. What a surprise!

Well, two days after receipt, I talked to the post office manager named Pam, a very nice helpful lady. Pam told me that I should come in and she’d process the return. No problem, right?

WRONG!
On further research into Hydroxatone/Hydrolyze, in the "Ordering, Return & Shipping" section, subsection: "How do I Return a Product" on their FAQ page (http://www.hydrolyze.tv/faq.html#f3.12) I discovered the statement that •”We will not process or refund packages marked "Return to Sender."

Okay, so is "Mark" right or is their FAQ page right? The word "Mark" is in quotes because a number of other victims report speaking to a "Mark." Are ALL their customer service staff named Mark?

Finally on Wednesday, 8/04/2010, I realized that what we have on our hands is one giant case of fraud: They don’t charge what they said they would charge. I mean, really, a bill for 9.90 for a free sample?

On the phone, their customer service rep "Mark" lied about using the "Return to Sender" return method, while their FAQ page says explicitly that they will NOT accept any return marked "Return to Sender." But wait! It gets better! The other day, one of their customer service staff called me to CONFIRM MY NEW ORDER. I think I may have said something like, “ARE YOU INSANE?” And so it goes.

So, do we have a case for mail fraud? We will if all of you file a Mail Fraud claim with the office of postal inspectors. We need to generate as many claims as possible, so please pass the word. In the meantime, I’ll be calling the postal inspector and filing a claim for mail fraud. I’ll also visit the various complaint sites and leave this same message.

It’s definitely time to rise up about getting thoroughly ripped off. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me at rwolfson@datastep.com. After Enron and the subsequent “discoveries” about the subsequent stories about what is basically the looting of the America, I think it’s time for a grass roots movement to start protesting and acting in our own defense. DON’T YOU?

I bought a DVD worth about about a week from a seller that was…through Amazon Prime? (I’m not sure how to put it). Well, the shipping was free two-day shipping, so I think the item was through amazon. But when I received it, the packaging wrap was opened and THERE WERE NO DISC INSIDE. So I request a refund in Amazon and they processed the return mail labeling part, but after that they only said, Thank You! your refund will take about 7-14 days, blah blah blah.

I know a correct returning process from other sellers from an experience and this is definitely not the way to get a refund from other sellers. I know if I want to get a refund from other sellers, I have to send an email, but amazon just had me fill out the return details and do the mail labeling process. Should I track down this seller and get his email address and send an email before sending the item back? Or should I just ship the item and will the Amazon get me my refund without having me send an email to the seller??

Bascially what I am saying is, did I get the refund from Amazon or the seller? and did I have to send an email to the sender or not?

Please hurry, I’m leaving for a trip for a week so I need the reply by tomorrow.

I have not researched this subject, and make no claim of its validity.
SWEET POISON A MUST READ

In October of 2001, my sister started getting very sick. She had stomach spasms and she was having a hard time getting around. Walking was a major chore. It took everything she had just to get out of bed; she was in so much pain.

By March 2002, she had undergone several tissue and muscle biopsies and was on 24 various prescription medications. The doctors could not determine what was wrong with her. She was in so much pain, and so sick.she just knew she was dying. She put her house, bank accounts, life insurance, etc., in her oldest daughter’s name, and made sure that her younger children were to be taken care of.

She also wanted her last hooray, so she planned a trip to Florida (basically in a wheelchair) for March 22nd.

On March 19 I called her to ask how her most recent tests went, and she said they didn’t find anything on the test, but they believe she had MS (Multiple Sclerosis).
I recalled an article a friend of mine e-mailed to me and I asked my sister if she drank diet soda? She told me that she did. As a matter of fact, she was getting ready to crack one open that moment.

I told her not to open it, and to stop drinking the diet soda!
I e-mailed her the article my friend, a lawyer, had sent.
My sister called me within 32 hours after our phone conversation and told me she had stopped drinking the diet soda AND she could walk! The muscle spasms went away. She said she didn’t feel 100% but she sure felt a lot better. She told me she was going to her doctor with this article and would call me when she got home.

Well, she called me, and said her doctor was amazed! He is going to call all of his MS patients to find out if they consumed artificial sweeteners of any kind.
In a nutshell, she was being poisoned by the Aspartame in the diet soda…and literally dying a slow and miserable death.

When she got to Florida March 22, all she had to take was one pill, and that was a pill for the Aspartame poisoning! She is well on her way to a complete recovery.
And she is walking! No wheelchair! This article saved her life.
If it says ‘SUGAR FREE’ on the label; DO NOT EVEN THINK ABOUT IT!
I have spent several days lecturing at the WORLD ENVIRONMENTAL CONFERENCE on ‘ASPARTAME,’ marketed as ‘NutraSweet,’ ‘Equal,’ and ‘Spoonful.’

In the keynote address by the EPA, it was announced that in the United States in 2001 there is an epidemic of multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. It was difficult to determine exactly what toxin was causing this to be rampant.
I stood up and said that I was there to lecture on exactly that subject.
I will explain why Aspartame is so dangerous: When the temperature of this sweetener exceeds 86 degrees F, the wood alcohol in ASPARTAME converts to formaldehyde and then to formic acid, which in turn c auses metabolic acidosis. Formic acid is the poison found in the sting of fire ants. The methanol toxicity mimics, among other condit ions, multiple sclerosis and systemic lupus. Many people were being diagnosed in error. Although multiple sclerosis is not a death sentence, Methanol toxicity is!

Systemic lupus has become almost as rampant as multiple sclerosis, especially with Diet Coke and Diet Pepsi drinkers. The victim usually does not know that the Aspartame is the culprit. He or she continues its use; irritating the lupus to such a degree that it may become a life-threatening condition.
We have seen patients with systemic lupus become asymptotic, once taken off diet sodas.

In cases of those diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis, most of the symptoms disappear. We’ve seen many cases where vision loss returned and hearing loss improved markedly.

This also applies to cases of tinnitus and fibromyalgia.
During a lecture, I said, ‘If you are using ASPARTAME (NutraSweet, Equal, Spoonful, etc) and you suffer from fibromyalgia symptoms, spasms, shooting, pains, numbness in your legs, cramps, vertigo, dizziness, headaches, tinnitus, joint pain, unexplainable depression, anxiety attacks, slurred speech, blurred vision, or memory loss you probably have ASPARTAME poisoning!’
< FONT color=#339966 size=4>People were jumping up during the lecture saying, ‘I have some of these symptoms. Is it reversible?’

Yes! Yes! Yes! STOP drinking diet sodas and be alert for Aspartame on food labels! Many products are fortified with it! This is a serious problem.
Dr. Espart (one of my speakers) remarked that so many people seem to be symptomatic for MS and during his recent visit to a hospice, a nurse stated that six of her friends, who were heavy Diet Coke addicts, had all been diagnosed with MS. This is beyond coincidence!

Diet soda is NOT a diet product! It is a chemically altered, multiple SODIUM (salt) and ASPARTAME containing product that actually makes you crave carbohydrates. It is far more likely to make you GAIN weight!
These products also contain formaldehyde, which stores in the fat cells, particularly in the hips and thighs. Formaldehyde is an absolute toxin and is used primarily to preserve ’tissue specimens.’ Many products we use every day contain this chemical but we SHOULD NOT store it IN our body!

Dr. H. J. Roberts stated in his lectures that once free of the ‘diet products’ and with no significant increase in exercise; his patients lost an average of 19 pounds over a trial period.

Aspartame is especially dangerous for diabetics.
We found that some physicians, who believed that they had a patient with retinopathy, in fact, had symptoms caused by Aspartame.
The Aspartame drives the bloodsugar out of control. Thus diabetics may suffer acute memory loss due to the fact that aspartic acid and phenylalanine are NEUROTOXIC when taken without the other amino acids necessary for a good balance.

Treating diabetes is all about BALANCE. Especially with diabetics, the Aspartame passes the blood/brain barrierand it then deteriorates the neurons of the brain; causing various levels of brain damage, seizures, depression, manic depression, panic attacks, uncontrollable anger and rage.

Consumption of Aspartame causes these same symptoms in non-diabetics as well.
Documentation and observation also reveal that thousands of children diagnosed with ADD and ADHD have had complete turnarounds in their behavior when these chemicals have been removed from their diet. So called ‘behavior modification prescription drugs’ (Ritalin and others) are no longer needed. Truth be told, they were never NEEDED in the first place! Most of these children were being ‘poisoned’ on a daily basis with the very foods that were ‘better for them than sugar.’

It is also suspected that the Aspartame in thousands of pallets of diet Coke and diet Pepsi consumed by men and women fighting in the Gulf War, may be partially to blame for the well-known Gulf War Syndrome.

Dr. Roberts warns that it can cause birth defects, i.e. mental retardation, if taken at the time of conception and during early pregnancy.
Children are especially at risk for neurological disorders and should NEVER be given artificial sweeteners. There are many different case histories to relate of children suffering grand mal seizures and other neurological disturbances talking about a plague of neurological diseases directly caused by the use of this deadly poison.’

Herein lies the problem:
There were Congressional Hearings when Aspartame was included 100 different products and strong objection was made concerning its use. Since this initial hearing, there have been two subsequent hearings, and still nothing has been done. The drug and chemical lobbies have very deep pockets.

Sadly, MONSANTO’S patent on Aspartame has EXPIRED!
There are now over 5,000 products on the market that contain this deadly chemical and there will be thousands more introduced. Everybody wants a ‘piece of the Aspartame pie.’ I assure you that MONSANTO, the creator of Aspartame, knows how deadly it is.

And isn’t it ironic that MONSANTO funds, among others, the American Diabetes Association, the American Dietetic Association and the Conference of the American College of Physicians?

This has been recently exposed in the New York Times.
These [organizations] cannot criticize any additives or convey their link to MONSANTO because they take money from the food industry and are required to endorse their products.

Senator Howard Metzenbaum wrote and presented a bill that would require label warnings on products containing Aspartame, especially regarding pregnant women, children and infants. The bill would also institute independent studies on the known dangers and the problems existing in the general population regarding seizures, changes in brain chemistry, neurological changes and behavioral symptoms.
The bill was killed.

It is known that the powerful drug and chemical lobbies are responsible for this, letting loose the hounds of disease and death on an unsuspecting and uninformed public. Well, you’re Informed now! YOU HAVE A RIGHT TO KNOW!

Please print this out and/or e-mail to your family and friends.

They have a right to know too
